Middle Peninsula African-American Genealogical and Historical Society (MPAAGHS) invites you to a virtual meeting on Saturday, March 12, at 11:00 AM (Eastern Time). The meeting will feature a talk by genealogist Rosalyn Green entitled, "From My Grandmother's Oral History to an Article: Strategies for Researching and Recording Your Family's Oral History."

Ms. Green grew up hearing stories about her second great grandfather, including his amazing reaction to learning that his wife and infant child had been sold South during the domestic slave trade. She and her cousins have researched those stories. She will use their experience to share strategies for researching and gathering evidence to verify family's oral history, identify portions that are misunderstood, misplaced or untrue, and write an article that will be accepted for publication in a historical or genealogical journal.

Rosalyn Green is a retired research chemist and teacher who is now applying her research skills to uncover her family's history and genealogy and teach others how to do theirs too. She holds a B.A. in chemistry from Hampton University and an M.A. in secondary teaching from Wilmington University. Ms. Green has family roots in Virginia's Northumberland and Essex Counties. She has been a member of the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society (AAHGS) and its Delaware Chapter since 2015, and is also a member of Northumberland County Historical Society, Northern Neck of Virginia Historical Society, and Middle Peninsula African-American Genealogical and Historical Society.

She is the author of articles that have appeared in AAHGS Newsletter, AAHGS Journal, and the Bulletin of the Northumberland Historical Society. She has given presentations on African American history and genealogy to her AAHGS chapter and at AAHGS national conferences.
